Covid Catch Up Premium

What is the COVID Catch Up Premium?

The government are giving schools money to support children and young people to catch up lost time after school closure.

The catch up premium is funded on a per pupil basis at £80 per pupil. This will be based on the previous year’s census and will not include Nursery numbers. Juniper Hill School was in receipt of:

  • 1st payment September 2020 - November 2020 (3 months) £8,320
  • 2nd payment December 2020 - March 2021 (4 months) £12,360
  • 3rd payment April 2021 -August 2021 - (5 months)  £14,760

We are able to choose how we spend this money to improve the learning outcomes of the children who have been affected by the school closure.  As the catch-up premium has been designed to mitigate the effects of the unique disruption caused by coronavirus (COVID-19), the grant, currently, will only be available for the 2020 to 2021 academic year. It will not be added to schools’ baselines in calculating future years’ funding allocations.

Juniper Hill School's Covid Catch Up Premium Strategy is updated termly.
