Year 5 ventured to the London Science Museum. We began our adventure with an exciting workshop in the Wonderlab, where the children saw fire being moved by soundwaves, chemical reactions that lit the dark and exploded out of beakers, and we observed a magical water disappearing experiment -we were astonished! The children also experienced the effect of distributed pressure by sitting on "The Chair of 500 Nails" – their courage was tested! Afterwards, we made our way to the space exhibit and found out interesting facts, including the amount of poo on the moon. (This is a fact we are sure they have shared with their families!)
After lunch, we made our way back to the Wonderlab for an hour of interactive play. Here, children explored independently and interacted with many scientific concepts in action. Highlights included the friction slides, where they could test the impact different surfaces have on the speed they move, pulleys to pull themselves up and they even experienced electric shocks! Another real highlight was building their own arch bridge and walking across it to test its strength. A great day out was had by all!
